Facebook Launches @Mentions Tag

September 15, 2009 - Social networking site Facebook has just launched a new feature that will make it easier for users to tag friends, groups, artists, and other Facebook pages within their posts using the new @Mentions function.

According to Mashable, the new @Mentions feature will work similarly to the @ symbol on Twitter, which creates a hyperlink directly to the other mentioned user's account. When you are typing a post on Facebook and want to mention a person or another Facebook page, users will just have to type in the @ sign and then start typing the company/person's name and a drop down menu will then allow you to pick your intended tag.

The end result looks like a regular anchor text hyperlink that your fans and friends can click on to get transported to said person's page. It seems like a pretty cool feature and we're excited to try it out!
