Google is still claiming the top spot when it comes to search engines. In fact, out of the estimated 131 billion searches that took place worldwide in December, about 87.8 million were performed on Google. As impressive as those numbers are, Microsoft via Bing is seeing the highest rates of growth, from about 2.4 billion searches in December '08 to 4.1 billion in December '09. It's also important to note that Bing was only launched last spring, so that incredible growth rate really speaks to how successful Bing has become in a short period of time (especially compared to when Microsoft's big search engine was MSN).
