LinkedIn Latest Site Set for Redesign

November 6, 2009 - Perhaps everyone is just trying to get an early start for the New Year, but it seems like almost every major web portal or major social network has been rolling out major redesigns over the last few weeks.

Facebook once again changed their live feeds (a redesign many user are still anxious about)
Twitter launched Twitter lists and their new retweeting feature (which is rolling out RIGHT NOW!)
MSN launched the preview page for their new redesign overhaul
Yahoo finally launched their new portal redesign
Google has been mass experimenting with their fade-in redesign feature
YouTube has also undergone some recent changes to their home page, analytics, and comment features

And now LinkedIn is getting a makeover that will include a new top-level navigation bar and a sleek (and less cluttered) overall look. According to the LinkedIn blog:

We began the redesign effort several months ago by analyzing how people use LinkedIn.  We looked at what features people use the most and pored over several years of data from usability research on the site. Armed with this information we began doing design explorations of how to better organize LinkedIn features, and make them more convenient to find and use.

What's New

1. A global navigation bar at the top of the page that provides convenient access to all LinkedIn services.
2. Simplified local navigation within each of the LinkedIn areas (Profile, Contacts, Groups, etc.).
3. More room available for page content. Less scrolling.

4.     A cleaner, less-cluttered look.

So at least it's good to know we aren't the only ones expected to keep our websites looking fresh! We've said it before and we'll say it again and again, websites are never done!
