A 2-year-old girl nearly drowned in her family's pool in a swimming pool accident in Raynham, Massachusetts, on July 9, 2009.
The toddler was being supervised by her great-grandmother. According to the Raynham Call, the great-grandmother was mowing the lawn while the child slept. The girl woke up, made her way to the swimming pool and fell in. The swimming pool had a protective pool fence, but it was unlocked.
Fortunately, it does not appear that the girl suffered any permanent brain damage.
As the summer reaches its peak, Massachusetts officials remind parents that drowning accidents and swimming pool injuries can happen in seconds.
