When booking a cruise ship vacation, potential cruise-goers are thinking of all the wonderful things they will be doing while on their cruise. From sunbathing, to shuffleboard, dancing, and ship to shore ports of call, there are so many exciting things to plan.
When thinking about the vacation that many have saved for years to afford, it's doubtful that those daydreams include having a loved one get injured, sick, or even disappear while on the cruise. Yet the reality is that all of these personal injury accidents and worse sometimes happen on cruise ships.
Cruise Ship Accidents in the News
In May 2009, the Pacific Dawn is forced to dock after a serious injury. The cruise liner was diverted to Airlie Beach, Australia, to allow a child with a serious arm injury to disembark and seek proper medical treatment.
In February 2009, Oceanic Discoverer was held in port due to an accident which left an Australian man fighting for his life after he was crushed between a fire door and bulkhead during a safety drill. The injured passenger has since passed away from this accident.
Cruise Ship Sinks Due to Captain Negligence

Two French tourists have been missing since Thursday when the ship struck rocks and eventually sank off the island of Santorini.
