Budget Wedding Locations

While discussing the wedding and wedding budget with your family and friends, plan the time and location depending on what is available. If you are affiliated with a church, usually you can get married there and the only cost will be the decorations and gratuity to the clergy member. Additionally, some churches have reception halls that you can use for free as well if you or family members are members of the church.

If you are having your wedding during good weather, or having a summer wedding, does a friend or family member have a beautiful backyard and garden that could accommodate the wedding and/or wedding reception? What about a local park? Some charge a small fee; others can have a steeper charge.

Once the date, time, and location have been settled, some decisions to make will be:

• Decoration theme
• Wedding gown
• Bridesmaids/groomsmen

Decoration Theme

When planning a wedding, choosing simple themes will save you money in the long run. Many decorations can be found at dollar stores, on Craigslist, on eBay.com, as well as craft stores. If you or your friends and family are "crafty," you can make your own decorations and wedding favors at a fraction of the cost; thus making your wedding on a budget stand out!

Bridesmaids/Groomsmen

If any of your friends or family are capable seamstresses, money can be saved on the bridesmaids dresses by having them personally made. If not, research local seamstresses and see if they can do the dresses for less than the cost of a dress at a retail store. For the groomsmen, choosing a simple black and white tuxedo that can be rented at a lower cost will help them out.

Wedding Dress

One of the places to watch for sales, both on bridesmaid's dresses as well as wedding gowns is David's Bridal. You can even sign up on their website to win a wedding dress and five bridesmaids dresses. You can watch on Craigslist and eBay for offers on wedding dresses. You can get them for a fraction of the cost and then you only pay for the alterations.

With these tips, you should be able to play a beautiful, yet affordable budget wedding.
