Twilight Series
The Twilight series currently consists of four novels; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. The fifth book, Midnight Sun, is clouded in controversy; however, due to the illegal posting and distribution of several rough drafts on the Internet.
Stephenie Meyer has posted the "official" rough draft on her website for her fans even though she has not yet finished the book.
She discusses the illegal postings of her latest Twilight manuscript. "I'd rather my fans not read this version of Midnight Sun. It was only an incomplete draft; the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting? It has taken me a while to decide how and if I could respond. But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here (at the end of this post). This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest."
Twilight was the first of Meyer's books to be produced and released as a film, prompting fans to stand in line for hours, waiting to be one of the first to watch the big screen adaptation featuring their favorite Twilight characters.
The film version of Twilight has grossed over 10 times its $37 million budget; and that doesn't include the DVD sales. DVD sales are currently at $157 million and counting. No small feat for an author who wasn't even sure her book was ever going to be published.
The next Twilight movie, New Moon, is set to be released Nov. 20, 2009. You can bet vampire fans will be lining up to catch the premiere of this highly anticipated sequel.
