Bing Follows Google’s Lead with Bing Business Portal

April 12, 2011 – Hot on the trail of Google Places, Microsoft’s Bing has announced its new local business tool, Bing Business Portal (BBP)

Is it super different from Google Places? Not really, it’s the same basic concept: claim your business location on the map, flesh out your listing, pay for premium content features. There are some extras like QR codes (those square barcodes that can be scanned with smartphones to bring up enhanced websites), online menus for restaurants, and a new way to promote deals.

With all of these search engine sites trying to enhance small business promotion things can get quite confusing.
Many users have complained that Google Places doesn’t provide very good customer support to businesses with issues claiming their listings. Time will tell whether or not Microsoft suffers the same customer complaints.
