July 9, 2009 – TechCrunch is reporting that Microsoft has added a few new features to Hotmail’s Quick Add that includes popular features from Bing.
Instead of having to perform a separate search for movie times, restaurant addresses, and cute online videos and then cutting and pasting the links into your email, Hotmail users can easily search then insert maps and movie listings directly through the Quick Add API.
Hotmail, which is the world’s largest Web mail provider with a very impressive 343 million monthly users, seems like a great opportunity for Microsoft to get Web users accustomed to using Bing instead of search engine giant, Google. Bing, which has been steadily gaining users since it’s launch at the beginning of June, is starting to win over Internet users slowly but surely. Will including Bing searches in Hotmail push Bing further into search engine greatness, or do old habits just die too hard?
Only time will tell.
