Dunkin Donuts has launched a new website which aims to make group orders “easier, more efficient and more viral,” according to a Marketing Daily article. The donut and coffee retailer’s new site, www.DunkinRun.com, is available for users to place orders online, and via an iPhone application.
The office or post-party “coffee runner” can send an alert to co-workers or friends to notify them of a coffee/donut run. The recipients can then place orders through the site by viewing an online menu, or selecting personal favorites from previous orders. The runner can then print the order or show a Dunkin Donuts staff member the mobile device with the order on it.
Dunkin Donuts has created a marketing strategy for the new site to include:
- Outreach to influential press and bloggers
- Mailing preloaded loyalty cards to valued customers
- Radio promotions/advertising
- Online advertising
- Promotion via the company sponsorship of the Boston Red Sox
- Advertising in elevators in Boston (home to the highest number of store locations)
