January 27, 2010 – Search engine optimized content is designed to attract positive attention from search engines through the use of researched and strategically placed SEO keywords. In order to get the most value out of those keywords, it’s important to first understand what they are, how to identify them, and where to place them in your SEO content.
What are SEO Keywords?
Keywords are the terms and phrases people use in search engines when performing a search. Think about the last time you used Google or Bing to look for something. Let’s say you were looking for a local drycleaner, most likely you would then perform an Internet search using the term “dry cleaners” along with your city, neighborhood, or zip code. If you lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, you might use the term, “Ft. Lauderdale dry cleaners” to perform your search. In this case, “Ft. Lauderdale dry cleaners” is a keyword phrase.
If you were a drycleaner in Ft. Lauderdale and had a website with content on it that effectively used the phrase “Ft. Lauderdale dry cleaners”, you might rank really well in the search engine results for that search. Internet searchers also might type in “dry cleaners in Ft. Lauderdale” or “dry cleaning services near Ft. Lauderdale, FL”, while looking for the same results.
That’s why it is important to do your research and determine which of these keyword phrases are the most commonly used in order to determine which to include in your SEO content.
