Twitter Launching Contributors Feature for Businesses

December 15, 2009 – In an attempt to reach out to more businesses, Twitter is launching a new Contributors Feature on the popular social networking platform for companies with multiple tweeters.

twitter-logoAccording to the Twitter Blog, the new feature is aimed at companies that have a business account with multiple contributors and will allow the individual tweeter to get a byline at the end of the tweet. Via the Twitter Blog:

“The feature we are beta testing is called ‘Contributors’ – it enables users to engage in more authentic conversations with businesses by allowing those organizations to manage multiple contributors to their account. The feature appends the contributor’s username to the tweet byline, making the business to consumer communication more personal; e.g. if @Twitter invites @Biz to tweet on its behalf, then a tweet from @Twitter would include @Biz in the byline so that users know more about the real people behind organizations.”

The move is the latest attempt for Twitter to really start tailoring some of their services directly to businesses who use the social networking site as part of their online marketing strategies. Now companies who use Twitter can keep their branded look and feel while adding a “human face” to the tweets they send out.
