Virgin Atlantic’s social media travel site launched

Virgin Atlantic has created a travel site that incorporates aspects of social media networking sites, like Facebook.

The site,, offers the following features to its users:

  • A trip planner
  • The ability to collaborate on travel itineraries
  • Travelogues
  • Photography from trips
  • Travel match, where people can connect with those with similar travel interest

The creators of the site sought to fill a void on the Internet, which they found to be largely devoid of quality sites that “celebrate travel.” Capitalizing on the large number of Virgin Atlantic employees who travel, allowed to build its foundation content.

The site has plans to increase their advertising clientele, incorporate video features, and network to other Virgin Atlantic sites. For now, though, the creative director has opted to downplay Virgin Atlantic’s parent company involvement.
