Yahoo and Bing Close to Search Deal

July 27, 2009 – It’s been a really long time in the making, but it seems like Yahoo and Microsoft might actually go through with a search deal that could give Bing the boost it needs to take on search engine powerhouse Google.

According to AdAge, the deal that might even be announced this week, would have Bing become Yahoo’s search provider, which would both strengthen Bing’s search reach and expand Yahoo’s ability to sell search ads. While everything comes down to money, which is why this deal is tenuous at best and similar deals between Microsoft and Yahoo have faltered in final negotiations previously, both companies could see considerable gains through this partnership and finally take a decent chunk out of Google’s search share.
