January 21, 2010 – At We Do Web Content, we get a lot of great questions from lawyers looking to add valuable search engine optimized (SEO) Web content to their websites and how that content can help them drive traffic to their websites and generate leads.
Recently, Yvette Valencia, the Co-Founder of We Do Web Content, spoke at Ben Glass’s Great Legal Marketing Conference about the many benefits of SEO Web Content and had the opportunity to speak to a lot of attorneys that specialize in many different legal areas.
Below we’ve included the answers to some the questions we were asked the most.
Question #1 – How can you write content for my website without knowing anything about my practice?
The answer is simple, we can’t! It would be impossible for us to write engaging and informative SEO content for your legal practice using your SEO keywords without getting to know you, your goals, and your website. That’s why every client we work with has a lengthy individual consultation with Yvette Valencia to discuss:
- Your website (what you like and what you don’t)
- Your goals for your website’s growth
- The types of cases you specialize in
- The types of cases you are most passionate about
- Your competitor’s websites and what they are doing right and wrong
- Your keywords (if you have already identified some key terms and phrases)
- Other issues, questions, hopes, and ideas about how to take your site to the next level
After this initial consultation we get to work researching your SEO keywords, your local competitors, and working hand in hand with you to design a web content project plan that will outline your practice areas and the topics your new SEO content will cover.
Every step of the way YOU are involved. No surprises and no guess work. Our SEO content works because we take the time necessary to learn all about what you want and need from your web content before we start researching and writing.
Question #2 – How much SEO content do I need?
This is a tricky question because there isn’t a set answer. There’s no magic number like 100 or 1,000 pieces of content that will work for every website. Here are the facts:
Fact #1 – Search engines scan websites for content. If you don’t have content, there’s nothing for them to scan. The web content that is scanned by the search engines determine where you will be ranked in organic search engine results.
Fact #2 – Search engines look for fresh content. That means adding 100 pieces of web content to your website in one week and then never adding content again for a year is not helpful for search engine placement.
The amount of SEO content you will need depends on several factors including the current state of your website, your goals, your practice areas, and other unique circumstances. At We Do Web Content, our project plans include adding a large amount of web content to your website over the first few months of your contract and then creating a maintenance plan to ensure that fresh content continues to get added to your website each week, just in lower amounts than the initial surge.
