A Search Engine Optimized (SEO), or online press release, can be an inexpensive and effective way to increase your company’s page rankings among search engines like Yahoo, Google, and MSN. Including SEO press releases in your overall marketing strategy can help get your company noticed, and, ultimately, increase your customer base.
Components of a Well Written SEO Press Release
The basic components of a typical press release are the same for a SEO press release – Title, Summary, Body, About the Company, and Contact Information. The main difference between the two is that while a typical press release is focused solely on informing the reader of specific information, the SEO Press Release must inform the reader and be infused with keywords and tags that will allow the release to appear in online search results.
Titles should include keywords that are likely to be used by readers and journalists who are searching for information relevant to your company.
The Summary provides a synopsis, or “snapshot,” of the press release in a few short sentences.
The Body comprises the bulk of the press release. The reader should know the answers to the basic questions of “Who, What, When, Where, Why and How?” when they are finished reading this section. It should be written in the third person, avoiding obvious advertisement lingo, like “We are the finest dermatologist in all of Wisconsin.” The overall tone of the press release should read like a journalist wrote an article about your company.
